August 1944, and a captain in the Greek army in the Middle East, Jason, secretly disembarks on an island with the mission of gathering information on the state of the German defensive positions, in view of the imminent landing of the Allied Forces. To complete his mission, he makes contact with some rebels, but the Germans are aware of his presence and arrest twelve men to force him to surrender. Shortly before the deadline expires, a local man who had been declared a deserter shortly before the war began and had been in hiding, presents himself at his post and is executed, making his wife and son proud.

When a black Civil War veteran becomes co-owner of the southern McMasters ranch, the incensed local Confederate veterans come gunning for him and his Indian wife.

Based on a true story. Near the end of World War II, two German deserters are put in an Allied POW camp. When a rigid and militaristic German colonel learns about their desertion, he wants them court-martialed, even if the war is over. The uninterested Allied officers oblige him, and the two men face the firing squad on "the fifth day of peace".

Kirovakan, Armenia, 1968. A street in the town is being renamed, but nobody seems to know whom after. Disguised as an Italian medic, Dolas finds himself on a ship evacuating wounded Axis soldiers to Italy. He leaves the ship disguised as a Nazi soldier, but is found out, declared a deserter and sent to the Eastern Front. However, on the flight to Russia, he is able to escape with a parachute, and finds himself back in Poland, now occupied by Nazis.

After escaping across Europe from Stalag camp, Dolas's ride to Cyprus is stopped when his ship in sunk by an Italian submarine. Although he and some of his fellow sailors are rescued by an Allied ship, they find themselves conscripted into the French Foreign Legion in Beirut, Dolas becoming a cook.

Different in character and inclinations, they did not come together right away. Over time, they were united by a common hatred of the enemy, and in the battles with the Nazis their courage, resourcefulness, selflessness were forged ...
