The boy Stefan brings the supper to his father in village council office. From the frontier post comes the news that bandits have crossed the border. The boy goes back home. He and his sister prepare to go to bed. A blizzard is raging outside. A wounded stranger comes to the house in search of shelter. The mother dresses his wounds and gives him food. It becomes clear that he is not the lieutenant from the frontier post that he claims to be. Stefan jumps from the window and dashes to the frontier post. The mother tries to keep the saboteur as long as possible. The two quarrels. He hits her with the submachine gun. He attempts to escape, but the border guards have already surrounded the house.

During autumn of 1944, an RAF Hudson carrying a VIP passenger in possession of highly secret information is shot down and ditches in the North Sea. Fighting the elements and trying to keep up morale, the occupants of the aircraft's dinghy talk about their lives awaiting the rescue they hope will come. The film's title reflects the motto of the RAF's Air Sea Rescue Service, one of whose high speed launches battles against its own mechanical problems, enemy action, time and the weather to locate and rescue the downed crew and the vital secret papers they carry.

He hides from her the fact that her husband is a comrade from the trenches, and only reveals the truth when he learns of Marimon's death. Outraged, Hélène drives him away. After many years, Jacques reappears to learn that Hélène had once given him a daughter. Hélène, unwilling to reveal anything to young Dominique, forces the man she loves to leave her country. Dominique not only gets her mother to talk, but also reunites those separated by fate.

Chambers, it was the winner of an Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Two Reel) film in 1955. The film is on the National Film Registry for its cultural significance in 2007.
