Short Subject [commonly known as Mickey Mouse in Vietnam] is a 16mm underground animated short film. Mickey Mouse enlists with the army and ships off to Vietnam.

A German intelligence officer investigates a prostitute's killing in Warsaw during World War II. He lands on three major Nazi generals as suspects, two of whom are also involved in a plot to kill Adolf Hitler.

Made during the height of the Vietnam War, Stan Brakhage has said of this film that he was hoping to bring some clarity to the subject of war. Characteristically for Brakhage there is no direct reference to Vietnam.

Based on the author T.Ulambayar's novel "Guardian of Peace", it is shown that the Khasa bandits repeatedly invaded the western part of our border in 1947 under the persuasion of the Chinese Kuomintang.

During the Japanese invasion of the Philippines, an assorted group of refugees, including an American soldier, an Army nurse, a priest and a group of local children, try to make their getaway aboard a rattletrap, creaky bus.

Captain Faruk is assigned to the northern front during World War I. He kills an elderly Romanian general who resists him in a house where he has taken refuge. The general's daughter, Mariya, informs her brother, Captain Polibas, of her father's death and takes refuge with her aunt. The town of Ivesti, where her aunt lives, is also occupied by Turkish soldiers. Captain Faruk is placed in Mariya's aunt's house by the mayor of Ivesti. Captain Faruk tries to make Mariya forgive him. The two will eventually fall in love with each other.

The German-Soviet war. A group of scouts discovers a four-year-old girl at a bombed-out railway station who hid during the bombing and fell behind the echelon of evacuated orphanage children, and takes her with them. Soon the scouts are ambushed by the Germans in the forest.

A little girl named Katherine saved one boy's life during the bombing in Leningrad while under the Siege in WWII. The boy cannot speak yet. So she gave him a name Seryozha and provided him with food and care. She was later adopted by the boy's father, who recognized his son.

The Gestapo searches one of the apartments in Warsaw. It comes to a tragedy.

In late 1940 the Japanese were anxious to conclude peace in China and to that end sent Colonel Hidaka to inaugurate negotiations. He was mysteriously assassinated, however, when his car was blown up. The General Staff Headquarters in Japan, sends Lieutenant Shiina, a graduate of the famed Nakano School of Spies inaugurated by Colonel Kusanagi, to investigate the matter. Arriving in Shanghai, he disguises himself as a Chinese coolie and sets out to watch for developments, the only clue being a silver dollar found beside what was left of the victim.

While he tries by all means to stay out of the bloody upheavals caused by the battle of Algiers, Hassan, an honest and naive father, unknowingly offers hospitality to a mujahid actively sought by the army.
